CPRST Holds New Cullman Civic Center Groundbreaking Event

Cullman, Alabama, November 9, 2023—The City of Cullman, Cullman Parks, Recreation & Sports Tourism Department, CCR Architecture, and Jim Cooper Construction Company held a groundbreaking ceremony at the new location of the Cullman Civic center, slated to open its doors late January 2025. 

 

The new civic center will be located in the middle of the Sports and Events District near Cullman’s newest attraction, WildWater. 

 

On over 140 acres, the 115,000 square feet sports and events facility has a large space for recreational events, a catering kitchen, breakout meeting rooms and plenty of parking. The gymnasium will be able to hold large events, such as concerts, expos, conventions, sporting events, and more. It will hold up to 6,500 people with the ability for numerous configurations to meet event space needs. 

 

Nathan Anderson, Cullman’s Parks, Recreation and Sports Tourism Executive Director explains, “Today’s groundbreaking event is not just about marking a milestone in a project, we are celebrating the community. We are excited that together we are making this dream a reality.” 

 

CCR Architecture is the architecture firm responsible for design and Jim Cooper Construction Company is the general contractor.

On May 31, Cullman Park and Recreation is hosting a one-day pickleball clinic at the Active Adult Center Outdoor Courts, led by Jonny Pickleball—a nationally recognized pickleball pro known for his high-energy teaching style and deep knowledge of the game. This is a rare opportunity to learn from someone who travels the country teaching, competing, and growing the sport. And he's stopping here in Cullman to share that experience with you.
